Moorside Community Primary School

School Info

Moorside Community Primary School is an average size community primary school with Nursery Provision, serving pupils, mainly from the North Halifax ward in Halifax.

In September 2018 the school moved from an old Victorian building into a brand new purpose built school. In total there are 8 classrooms, 1 hall that can be converted into 2 smaller halls, a library, a sensory room and a family learning room. We have a large outdoor space, which consists of a newly enhanced Early Years (Nursery and Reception) playground, a Multi-use games area (MUGA), grassed area and marked playground. These are used throughout the day for playtimes, PE sessions and as part of the curriculum.

The school has a large staff of teachers, teaching assistants and other support staff, all of whom are here to ensure your children get the best of their time at Moorside.

We have an intake of 30 pupils per year group, with pupils organised into single age classes, by year group; this means pupils are usually in classes of 30. The Nursery has 26 Monday to Wednesday lunchtime places and 26 Wednesday lunchtime to Friday places. 30 hour places are also available.

The school offers a breakfast provision from 07:45am.

School is open to all children from 08:40am with the official start time beginning at 08:45am. School finishes at 3:15pm (Rec - Y6). This amounts to 32.5 hours class time across the week.

Nursery sessions are:

1st half of the week - 08:40am - 3:10pm Monday and Tuesday and 08:40am - 11:20am Wednesday.

2nd half of the week - Wednesday 12:30pm - 3:10pm and 08:40am - 3:10pm Thursday and Friday.

We have a wide range of extra-curricular clubs and activities, which are changed half termly and our curriculum includes a number of educational visits, visitors, experience days and special activities; all of which enrich and broaden our curriculum.

Throughout the year we hold a number of formal and informal events for parents, carers and the community to get involved with the school. These include weekly PROUD assemblies, parents evenings and parent workshops.

Prospective parents are always welcome to visit our school and have a look at what we have to offer. Please make an appointment through the school office.
