June 2020

 Dear Parent/Carer

For parents/carers wishing to apply for a place at Trinity Academy (Halifax or Sowerby Bridge).

As a parent/carer of a child who is due to transfer to secondary education in 2021, you will have recently received a letter from Calderdale Local Authority regarding the upcoming admissions process.

The purpose of my letter is to make sure parents of children who wish to be considered for a place at Trinity Academy Halifax and/or Trinity Academy Sowerby Bridge, are aware that both schools now operate Fair Banding. This means that children who wish to be considered for a place at either school will need to sit a Fair Banding assessment. This is not a test, there is no pass or fail and there is no exam preparation required; you do however need to register your child before the closing date of Monday 14 September

If you would like to know more about Fair Banding and what this means, please follow this link: https://halifax.trinitymat.org/about-us/admissions-prospectus/.

If you would like to register your child to sit the Fair Banding assessment, please follow this link. https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=CCE9ruiSt0Cc_JtGPyH9N8pJSR-t2KpPjnzDzjREDe9UMFFIOTRGVDRYRDhHVEpPMDBSNDRIOUVBRi4u

Parents who register for their child to sit the assessment will receive further details in mid-September regarding when, and where, the assessment will take place. Please note, an application to sit the assessment is not an application to attend the school; parents must also complete the application process via their local authority which is detailed in the letter you recently received from Calderdale.

If you require any further information please contact the academy, using the contact details below, and our admissions team will be happy to help.

 Yours faithfully.

Mr N Robinson (Principal TAH)

Mr C Johnson (Principal TASB)
