Year 6 Residential trip

Information for current year 5 parents regarding the Year 6 Residential trip.

Dear Parent/Carer,

 Year 6 Residential Trip

As you know your child will be entering Y6 from September. In order to allow them the best possible start to their final year of Primary School we like them to experience a residential visit which provides them with the opportunity to bond as a year group and learn life-long resilience skills and memories to equip them for their future as self-confident young people.

We always book the residential well in advance and like to provide notice of dates and costs to Y5 parents during the Summer term. Due to the COVID-19 lockdown this year we are still awaiting clear guidance/clarity regarding whether the trip can go ahead and in what form it can be safely offered – currently Robinwood can offer the meals and activities but not the overnight stay.

Our original booking was for Friday 16th to Sunday 18th October 2020 to Robinwood Activity Centre at Dobroyd Castle, Todmorden. We have used this venue for a number of years, and it remains our preferred choice in terms of safety and value for money. School subsidise the trip by £3000 reducing the cost to families to £100 per pupil which includes food, travel and accommodation. This cost may reduce further if we are not able to stay overnight.

Hopefully by the time we return to school in September Mrs. Higgs will have clearer information about what can be offered and costs, and at that point will write to you with further detail regarding key information, consent and payment plans.

Yours faithfully,

Miss. D. Worthington
