Update from Mrs Higgs

3 February 2021 (by schooladmin)

The latest update from the Headteacher.

Dear Parent/Carer,

Firstly, I would like to thank you for all you are doing at home to support our remote learning package. We have received some amazing messages of support and appreciation, which have been greatly appreciated by the staff.

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement last week, the earliest that schools will be opening is the 8th March. This is still to be confirmed and we still do not know whether this will be for all the school or for certain year groups. As we receive further information, we will keep you updated.

The Government did confirm last week that school’s will be closed during February half term.

 Well-being and Mental Health

Last week, we introduced ‘Feel Good Fridays’. We are aware that the demands of remote learning can mean that children are spending significant amounts of time in front of a screen. We wanted to try and build some time into the week, where we could encourage participation in different types of activity.

This will be supported this week by our participation in Children’s Mental Health Week )1st-7th February.  The theme for this year is ‘express yourself’.  We will be using resources on the Place2Be website - https://www.childrensmentalhealthweek.org.uk/.

On Friday 5th February we are encouraging everyone to wear their favourite colour or choose a range of colours that express how they are feeling. Colour can be very personal and mean different things to different people, so this is a great opportunity to encourage self-expression and celebrate a diverse range of emotions.

If anyone is concerned about their own or their child’s well-being or mental health – please contact school and we will try and support you in any way that we can.

Parent survey results

We have had a fantastic response and the positive comments that we have received have given the staff a huge boost. Thank you to all those who took the time to respond. Please note that the table of results PDF can only be viewed via the website.

Thank you once again for all your efforts and your support. We keep our fingers crossed that we are nearing the end of this period of lockdown and that we will be able to once again welcome our families back to school.

 Yours faithfully,

Mrs. H. Higgs
