 Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

Dear Parent/Carer,

I am writing to you to give an overview of our Jubilee Celebrations that will be taking place.

Our main celebration event will take place on Friday 27^th May. We will be holding a Non- Uniform Day, where children are invited to come dressed in red, white and blue or as a king or queen. This event is preceded by a red, white and blue ‘swap shop’ which will take place on Thursday 19^th May. We would love donations of red, white and blue clothing that is no longer needed/outgrown. Donations will be sorted for parents/carers to come and choose from at the end of the day.

On the 27^th May, children will participate in activities such as;

• Watching footage from the Coronation and previous Jubilee celebrations
• Singing the National Anthem and a Jubilee Song (these will be available on Seesaw)
• Painting/drawing portraits of the Queen.
• Party Dinner - street party (a message will be sent separately for anyone wanting to order a party lunch who usually brings a packed lunch)
• Playing traditional playground games (hopscotch, marbles, skittles etc)
• ‘Royal Sports’ - hobby horse racing, croquet etc.
• Sharing story books and non-fiction books about the Queen

Our special celebration day will end with a ‘Jubilee Fair’ which is being planned by the Friends of Moorside. They will be sending out further information regarding donations that may be needed for the stalls. They also would greatly appreciate any offers of support from parents and families.

We are looking forward to a lovely day and are really hoping that it will be a memorable day for our school community.
